Policies and Procedures

Your pet's comfort, safety and health is our top priority

Timing- As a one on one groomer, some aspects of this salon may run differently than most brick and mortar salons. Timing is very important to ensure all dogs receive quality one on one attention and are the only dog present in the salon. This means not arriving for your appointment more than five minutes early or late. Also, it is very important to schedule an appointment time in which your dog can be picked up as soon as the grooming is complete. A notification will be sent out when your pet's groom is 15 minutes away from being finished. Please arrive no more than 30 minutes after this notification to avoid a kenneling fee of $5 per 15 minutes. Arriving more than 10 minutes late for an appointment may result in reduction of services (ie tidy package instead of full haircut) due to time constraints before the next scheduled appointment. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in forfeiture of appointment and a no-show fee will be applied.

Matting- Matting can be a painful experience for pet, groomer and owner- both figuratively and literally! Prevention is key, but in certain instances shaving is the safest and most humane option. Matting involves the hair being tightly tangled and impacted against the skin, sometimes leading to skin irritation, soreness, loss of blood flow, hematomas, hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections and more. Shaving sometimes exposes pre-existing conditions for which the groomer cannot be held responsible. Matting creates a uniquely delicate experience, requiring additional skill and time, as well as taking a harder toll on grooming equipment and tools. Very light, loose matting may be able to be brushed out but depends on the sensitivity of the dog and severity of matting. All grooming options will be discussed with the client before the session begins. A coat requiring a pre-shave will incur a $15-$25 fee depending on dog's size and coat condition. De-matting brushing will incur a $1 per minute charge. If a dog arrives matted and needs to be shaved, but the owner refuses services a no-show fee will be applied. In this case, please be advised that the matting will continue to get tighter and more painful for your dog.

No-Show/Last Minute Cancellation- Missed appointments can add up to thousands of dollars in lost revenue by the end of the year. By not showing up for a scheduled appointment, please understand that this is the equivalent of showing up to work and not getting paid. In order to protect my livelihood, a no-show fee of 50% will be charged. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will incur a $25 charge.

Aggressive/Dangerous/Ornery Pets- Please inform the groomer at time of booking if your pet has ever bitten another dog or human, or has had any issues with grooming or being handled by a veterinarian in the past. Every care will be extended to ensure the comfort and safety of your pet, but if at any point during the grooming process your pet becomes too stressed or becomes a danger to himself or the groomer, the grooming will be stopped and the full cost of the appointment may be charged. If the grooming is possible but handling requires an exceptional amount of extra time a handling fee may be added to the price of your groom.

Pet Health- All dogs must be at an age and physical capability of being safely groomed. All dogs must be vaccinated against rabies, distemper and parvo. Paper documented proof of vaccination from your vet is required before appointment time. All dogs must be on a flea and tick preventative. Being a home groomer it is essential to be a parasite-free salon. Any dog found to have parasites must be immediately retrieved and may be charged the full price of the groom.
